Open-eared and open-hearted: these are the watchwords of Léa Sen’s music. At just 23 years old, the London-based singer, songwriter and producer has established herself as one of the capital’s most in-demand talents, meandering between gossamer vocal features for Joy Orbison to solo work that references everything from Bon Iver’s electronic timbre and folk guitars to Sampha’s impressionistic lyricism.
Her debut EP, You of Now Pt. 1, released earlier this year, presents the self-assured maturity of an artist twice her age, with all tracks written, produced, and mixed by Sen.
Now Sen is back with a remix of You of Now Pt. 1 track ""I Feel Like I'm Blue"" – a rework by the genre-shifting and frequent Frank Ocean collaborator, Vegyn. “The rework came very organically, there was never an intention to put it out"" Sen says. ""Joe [Vegyn] and I were just sharing stems because we were excited about each other’s work, and that was like 2 years ago. It’s a bit terrifying to share it with people now but why leave it in our hard drives forever? Hopefully it connects!”

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
